Rotary International is all about 'Service above Self', and welcomes as members of its various clubs any person of good standing regardless of gender, ethnicity, beliefs or politics.
As a service organisation with 1.2 million members in almost every country in the world, including more than 50,000 in Great Britain and Ireland, the depth and breadth of Rotary's voluntary work impacts positively on communities worldwide.
There are several different models of Rotary membership: our passport club, Rotary Without Borders, being an innovative way of bringing together potential Rotarians for the good of others. It is certainly evolving as a result of the pandemic lockdowns and greater connectivity in the virtual world.
It's not in competition with existing types of clubs - instead, it's another piece of the Rotary International jigsaw puzzle, reflects a modern way of living and carrying out our business, and works with and alongside the more traditional models.
Being part of the Rotary family is available to all ages, and there are many unique opportunities for everyone, including children and young people, to grow in confidence, stature and experience. There's a good cross-section of short videos about the different pieces of the jigsaw puzzle which go to make up the big picture of Rotary across the world, on District 1200's website which was created as part of their virtual conference.
